Revanesse Versa is fast becoming one of the most sought after dermal fillers since FDA approval in 2017 with more than 3 million procedures worldwide.

For minimally invasive correction of nasolabial folds, thin lips, and moderate to deep wrinkles, Revanesse Versa is a safe hyaluronic acid wrinkle filler that is suitable for adult patients aged 22 and older. Versa is manufactured by Prollenium US, a company that is well respected in more than 80 countries around the world as a leader in aesthetic medicine since its inception in 2002.

Like other hyaluronic acid fillers, Versa is safely injected into the middle to deep dermis to add volume to strategic areas of the face. Once volume is restored, it has the effect of smoothing wrinkles and creases on the overlying skin. Our Boston doctors may also use Versa dermal filler to improve facial contours, adding volume to areas that tend to look more attractive and youthful with this enhancement, such as cheekbones and lips.

Versa has grown in popularity since it was FDA approved for correcting nasolabial folds in 2017. While dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm have been around longer, Versa provides equally impressive results. It has proven efficacy as a hyaluronic acid dermal filler and is quickly becoming a staple anti-aging treatment at our Boston medical spa as more patients begin to request it.

What areas do Versa dermal fillers treat?

At our Boston area cosmetic & reconstructive surgery practice, Versa serves our clients’ growing demand for the latest in cosmetic injectables. Versa treats the following areas: thin lips, nasolabial folds (marionette lines, sometimes called laugh lines), loss of volume in the cheeks and mid to lower face, contour irregularities of the nose. Non-surgical or “liquid rhinoplasty” is one of the fastest growing treatments offered in our practice, given our specialty training in nose surgery and facial surgery.

We offer a range of high-quality anti-aging solutions. To help you select the right treatment, Dr. Taylor or Dr. Sullivan will conduct a thorough skin examination and consult with you to determine the best dermal filler to meet your needs. At Taylor & Sullivan Plastic Surgery, we strive to deliver the best dermal fillers such as Revanesse Versa Boston has to offer.

What makes Versa different from other fillers?

Revanesse Versa is different from other fillers because it is made using a unique wet-milling technology. The manufacturer, Prollenium, combines this innovative production technique with high-quality ingredients and rigorous clinical studies to create one of the smoothest hyaluronic acid fillers on the market today. For our Boston Versa patients, this means exceptional smoothness and an even lower risk of temporary swelling, lumps, granuloma, and inflammation compared to traditional dermal fillers.

While the risks with all hyaluronic acid fillers are quite low, especially when administered by our board-certified Boston plastic surgeons, it is in many patient’s best interest to mitigate risks whenever possible.

Is There Any Downtime With Versa?

The Versa procedure will be performed by either Dr. Helena Taylor or Dr. Stephen R. Sullivan, both of whom are diplomates of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, fellows of the American College of Surgeons, and fellowship-trained in Facial and Craniomaxillofacial Plastic Surgery. Relying on their advanced training in facial plastic surgery, they will personally examine your skin to help you decide which dermal filler will obtain the result you are seeking.

If you choose to proceed with Revanesse Versa filler, this minimally invasive procedure takes less than 15 minutes in the hands of our skilled injectors. There is little to no discomfort or downtime. Best of all, Versa’s beautiful results are immediately noticeable.

Is Versa right for me?

Versa is ideal for patients with sensitive skin and loss of facial volume. Due to the refined manufacturing process, studies indicate that this ultra-smooth gel may produce less inflammation upon injection compared to standard dermal fillers, such as Juvederm or Restylane.

While all hyaluronic acid fillers are considered safe when injected properly by a board-certified plastic surgeon, the added peace of mind goes a long way for patients that wish to minimize potential adverse effects. Swelling and inflammation are particularly common in patients that would like to try dermal fillers for non-surgical lip enhancement; Revanesse Versa lip filler is widely requested for this reason.

Keep in mind much of the swelling from cosmetic injectables occurs due to the needle; However, eliminating or reducing swelling from the product itself is always desirable. Not only does Versa help thin lips look fuller, it easily corrects marionette lines and low cheekbones as well. For many patients, a surgical rhinoplasty or “nose job” is no longer necessary as Dr. Taylor and Dr. Sullivan can obtain improved symmetry and nasal proportions by safely and gently using Versa and hyaluronic acid fillers as a liquid rhinoplasty.

Revanesse Versa Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Do Versa Injections Last?

Clinical studies show that Revanesse Versa lasts 12 months on average. This is comparable to other hyaluronic acid-based fillers such as Juvederm. Nasolabial folds tend to retain the effect longest, followed by the cheeks, and then the lips. As time passes, the body naturally absorbs and safely eliminates the hyaluronic acid preparation found in Versa injectables. This is a safe and normal process, as hyaluronic acid is naturally present throughout the skin and body.

As the product wears off, you will gradually notice the treated area losing volume, ultimately returning to the pre-treated fullness. To maintain the results of treatment, a follow-up appointment is recommended every 9 to 12 months, or when the effects wear off, whichever occurs first.

What Should I Expect After Receiving Versa Injections?

Versa gives instant gratification. The effects are visible immediately, as the gel restores volume to the treated area the moment it is injected. Versa side effects are minimal due to the exceptionally smooth gel formula. There may be temporary swelling and redness at the injection site. This should subside in a matter of hours, with complete resolution in 48 hours for the vast majority of patients. Bruising may sometimes occur, particularly in the sensitive area on or near the lips. This tends to be minor and resolves quickly on its own. Makeup can be applied as needed to camouflage any bruises. Not all patients experience bruising after dermal fillers. While lips may appear markedly swollen for 48 hours, patients can resume most daily activities immediately after treatment.

Is Revanesse Versa Safe?

As an FDA-approved dermal filler for nasolabial folds, Versa has been subject to rigorous medical testing to prove both safety and efficacy. The risk of granuloma, lumps, and inflammation is exceedingly rare with Versa filler as compared to other wrinkle injection treatments. More serious side effects are unlikely to occur.

While differences in facial anatomy may be partly responsible for unwanted side effects, injection techniques can vary between providers. For example, unintentionally injecting filler into nearby blood vessels can pose serious side effects. Choose a skilled injector, such as Dr. Taylor and Dr. Sullivan, that is formally trained and board certified in plastic surgery, to support the safest outcome.
