JUVEDERM is another hyaluronic acid filler with a range of products designed to address facial aging in the middle-to-lower third of the face.

This hyaluronic acid filler, like Versa and Restylane, is used for restoring facial volume loss and smoothing lines. Juvederm treatments work by injecting natural, safe hyaluronic acid filler to add fullness to key areas of the face. It is excellent for patients that wish to fill wrinkles and plump lips, as well as lift and contour cheekbones, without surgery.

When properly injected by our board-certified plastic surgeons, Juvederm is a safe, easy way to refresh the face without telltale signs of having “work” done. It is a favorite among women and men alike that wish to freshen their appearance.

Am I a candidate for JUVEDERM?

Dermal fillers such as Juvederm are the fastest way to attain more youthful facial features. They work by restoring volume while plumping and firming the treated areas.

Our cosmetic injectors have helped patients accomplish impressive results by using cosmetic injectables to treat the following areas:

  • Nasolabial folds (also known as marionette lines, puppet lines, smile lines, or laugh lines)
  • Thin lips
  • Cheekbones
  • Deep wrinkles

Juvederm treatment helps our patients age gracefully. It is ideal for treating the mid-to-lower third of the face. However, Juvederm does not correct major sagging, such as loose skin and jowls. It also will not meaningfully improve superficial skin quality or elasticity. Juvederm can only add fullness to create youthful facial contours and fill static wrinkles. If you wish to correct dynamic wrinkles that move as you make facial expressions such as forehead lines, crow's feet, or 11 lines (eyebrow furrows), Botox or Dysport may be more suitable. For the tear trough area, Versa or Restylane is often the better choice.

In some cases, patients with moderate to severe sagging skin may be better candidates for surgical correction. In addition to injectable fillers, our Boston area plastic surgeons provide fat transfer, eye lifts, facelifts, brow lifts, and more to correct advanced signs of facial aging. Surgical and non-surgical procedures can be done in conjunction with the Juvederm procedure to achieve dramatic yet natural-looking results for patients that require it. No matter which treatment you select, Dr. Taylor and Dr. Sullivan will be pleased to create a treatment plan that suits your budget and cosmetic goals.

Deciding to try JUVEDERM for the First Time?

Botox and Dysport relax muscles of the face to remove deep wrinkles and restore a fresh and youthful appearance.

Since Juvederm is a quick, minimally invasive procedure, you can choose to move forward with injections the same day if you wish. Our experienced injectors will ensure a comfortable experience, particularly for first time Boston Juvederm patients.

How much does JUVEDERM cost?

The Juvederm price varies based on the number of cc’s needed for correction.

There are different types of Juvederm that treat various areas of the face. Each patient's face is unique, as the severity of volume loss varies from person to person. In addition, most patients have different expectations as to what they are hoping to accomplish with dermal fillers.

To get an accurate price for Juvederm Boston plastic surgeons Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Taylor offer personalized consultations. After listening to your treatment goals and examining the severity or volume loss, Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Taylor will use their advanced training and clinical judgment to recommend the optimal volume for enhancement. Each patient's needs are considered on an individual basis.

Juvederm is typically sold by the syringe, or “by the vial”. Each Juvederm syringe contains 1.0 cc of product. The amount of Juvederm depends on the target site and the desired fullness. For example, in order to avoid overfilled lips with a poor cosmetic result, our injectors generally use 2.00 cc of Juvederm or less. Most patients see excellent results with between .75 to 3.00 cc of Juvederm for cheek contouring or nasolabial folds, however, in some cases more filler may be required. Our doctors are highly trained to determine the correct amount of facial filler to help you obtain natural, beautiful results.

JUVEDERM Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Different Types of Juvederm?

There are five products in the Juvederm family. Each is specially designed to correct different signs of facial aging. All are made of a smooth gel consistency with unique bonding properties and concentrations of hyaluronic acid. Juvederm XC and Juvederm Vollure XC may be used to treat marionette lines.

For nonsurgical lip enhancement, Juvederm Volbella XC or Juvederm Ultra XC may be used. For non-surgical cheekbone augmentation, we may consider Juvederm Voluma XC.

How Long Does Juvederm Last?

Similar to Versa and Restylane, you may find that you enjoy youthful fullness and improved facial contours that last anywhere from 12 months to 2 years depending on the type of Juvederm used along with the area that was treated.

For patients seeking a non-surgical method for lip augmentation or cheek implants, hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm may be the perfect fit. With dermal fillers, the results are instantly visible.

What are the Most Common Juvederm Side Effects?

Bruising and swelling are normal responses to cosmetic injectables. Bruising is less common in the cheeks, and more common around the mouth area. This is typically mild, resolves within 1-2 weeks, and can be easily covered with makeup. The lips are notorious for swelling. With Juvederm lip filler, you can expect lips to appear markedly swollen for about 48 hours after injection. Juvederm is safe and well-tolerated with minimal adverse side effects when injected properly.
